The Silent Traveller in Oxford.

We have snow and The High echoes the picture below painted in 1944 by Chiang Yee for his book The Silent Traveller in Oxford; "a night of flying petals has whitened the old city". This wonderful little book looks at Oxford in a completely different way from standard guide books and the pictures are familiar views but painted with Chinese technique.

A cold and foggy walk down to the river and the lock where frost dusted the metalwork like fur and laced and spiked the seedheads.
