Off for a weekend jolly with friends in Salisbury. The train journey flew by as I was glued to Sarah Waters' The Little Stranger. An absolutely terrifying ghost story because it builds up so relentlessly and it leaves such a lot to the reader's imagination - overtones of The Turn of the Screw. Salisbury was lovely, this is a view of the Cathedral from the Town Path - the old water meadows on either side are now protected and in the spring grazed by rare breeds of sheep. When I was young this was the place for fishing for minnows and collecting frog-spawn.
Thoroughly spoilt and wined and dined.
