Realistic 3D Flag

    Realistic 3D Flag in Photoshop

With the help of this tutorial you will learn how to create a very realistic 3D looking flag in Photoshop.

Before we begin, download the necessary files (ZIP) including the final PSD file. Aside from Photoshop, flag.jpg and silk.psd are pretty much all we need to continue. As you’ll see, the process is very quick and effective. Please note that these files have the same dimensions (resolution). This is important for an accurate “rendering” of the flag’s texture.

    Step 1

Open up the flag.jpg image in Photoshop. Go to Filter > Distort > Displace… and use the settings in the image below.

A “Choose a Displacement Map” popup appears. Browse to where you saved the silk.psd file and open it. This applies the information from silk.psd as the displacement map for our flag image. You should have something that looks like the image below:

Notice that although the displacement map was successfully applied, all we’ve got so far is a distorted (or should I say “displaced”) image of the flag. We’re going to add that last ingredient in the final step below.

    Step 3

Open up silk.psd in Photoshop and do a Ctrl+A (Select All), then Ctrl+C (Copy) to select the pixels of the silk image and copy them into the Clipboard. Switch to our flag file and paste the silk image over the Background layer. Go ahead and switch the silk layer’s blending mode to Overlay — and there you have it: a cool looking flag/fabric with a nice texture on it.

Audrey Kitching - One Trick Sista

Don't get me wrong, I love Audrey Kitching! The girl is inspirational with her fairy floss pink hair and wacky outfits. She has no shortage of "photoshoots" to attend and she is always dressed to the nines with a full head of make-up to wow us with.

And I am often wowed by her, I see a picture and I draw my breath and I say wow. This person makes a living out of this... and what amazes me the most is:

This girl has ONE expression! Count them... not two or three or a vast array but ONE! One face she always pulls no matter the pose, no matter the scenery, no matter the outfit. One sole facial expression...and I am wowed, I am wowed by the millions of photos available on the Internet of this person with the same expression in each shot, which has led me to think...is Audrey kitching really a wax statue?

A lot people choose to get religious symbols, such as the ever popular tribal cross tattoo, tattooed on their body as representations of their faith.

The cross tattoo, is quite simply, a pair of lines that intersect each other at a 90º angle. These lines can be of equal length (forming a plus sign) or of varying lengths, as in the typical Christian cross. Crosses, in all their forms, have been used since ancient times as designations of various religions and other societies.

Hayley Williams is Cool Without Even Trying

This blog is called My Hair is Emo, I spend a lot of time focusing on scene queen types, mainly because they provide endless amounts of ammunition (self portraits, "photoshoot") for me to work on. And lets face it, those types thrive on blogs like this - they are "Internet famous". That is why it is so special every now and then when I feel inspired to write about someone with talents that go beyond the stroking of ones own ego. I am talking about Hayley Williams of Paramor fame!

And isn't she oh so cool without even having to try! she makes rad music! she doesn't need to be a poser.

How old is Hayley Williams from Paramor?
She was born on Dec 27 1988, right between Christmas and New Year, what a treat for her parents!

What is she known for? What is her trademark?
Flame red hair, always cut in a cool emo style.

Hayley Williams is not just hot...she is Hayley Williams hot!
