Lady Gaga Donates $1.5 Million to Japan
Gaga manages to raise over a million dollars for the victims in Japan.
Hey Gaga fans, I'm Brian Corsetti. Gaga has two things to celebrate today—her 25th birthday, and the fact that she raised $1.5 million for the victims of the eathquake and tsunami in Japan. According to the AP, Gaga managed to reached the impressive number via the sales of her Japanese Prayer bracelets, which she has been selling for five dollars. 100% of the proceeds were pledged to Japan, and more specifically, to charity groups Save the Children and the American Red Cross.
Gaga partnered up with gaming giant Zynga, who raised $2.5 million via their applications like Farmville on Facebook. Gaga said in a statement quote, "I'm inspired that my little monsters banded together to help those affected by the terrible tragedy. What Zynga's players have done for the cause is equally inspiring, and I'm thrilled to partner with them to raise money that will go to Save the Children and the American Red Cross."
