I have this theory which I call the collective sigh - a very female (well mostly) concept triggered, in my case, by ruffled linen, long boots, cloaks, and a horse - and of coure, a man but not just any man. Think Mr Darcy as played by Colin Firth plunging into the lake or Matthew Macfadyen's Darcy - appearing through the mist as the sun began to rise (and goodness you could hear the collective sigh in the cinema); think Greg Wise jumping off his grey horse and asking permission to fondle an ankle in Sense and Sensibility; think of Monty Don - yum; think of Raymond Blanc, all charm, an accent to die for and he can cook....... So, surprised by him at our Supper in Brasserie Blanc in Walton Street, were we cool and sophisticated, did we quiz him about the strange result of his Restaurant series this summer? - no we sighed.
We were too busy enjoying ourselves all weekend to take photographs (I forgot) but reference should be made to Jane's coat which had a rather overwhelming personality all of its own - here is Rose being set upon!
