Dear J - this was a day for you - I think we managed to cover at least some of your main pleasures - except we drew a blank on Bollywood.
So first, because you are such a fan of Benjamin Britten we went to Aldeburgh - just a tad chillier than LA! Because you are such a foodie, we had the best fish and chips in the country sitting on the beach surrounded by squadrons of Black Headed Gulls. Then strolled along the beach to Maggie Hambling's Scallop Shell memorial to Britten. If you Google this you can see there was quite an outcry about the design.
Then to see the graves of Britten and his companion Peter Pears in St Mary's church - simple slate tombstones side by side. Inside the fabulous memorial window to Britten by John Piper -with the curlew descending to the river.
On to Snape Maltings, this is Barbara Hepworth's Family of Man, set against the marshes.
And then, of course, its time for tea...........
Finally the most glorious concert in the Chapel at St John's College, Cambridge.
