This caught my eye in Spitalfields. Born in 16th century John Taylor was a Thames Waterman and ardent Royalist. He had a public house in Oxford but left for London when the Royalists had to surrender the city. When Charles I was executed Taylor called his London pub The Mourning Crown (which did not go down well). He is buried in St Martins in the Fields.
